Leadership
Claire Forsyth: Creative Director Claire joined GPS in 2006 and today leads the creative/artistic direction and strategy of the organisation as Creative Director. She is principally responsible for the personnel and logistical management of the GPS printmaking workshop and all related activities, and shares the planning and delivery of the main exhibitions programme with the Commercial Director. Passionate about print in her own practise as an artist and also in a professional capacity, she has been on the advisory panel for the Scottish Government on Creative Strategy in the Cultural Industries, worked as a visiting printmaking lecturer at GSA and others, and was part of the curriculum validation panel of City of Glasgow College. She has a First Class degree in Fine Art Printmaking from Glasgow School of Art. Monday - Friday
Debbie Jaffray: Operations Director Debbie joined Glasgow Print Studio in 2011 and as Operations Director is responsible for long-term operational strategies that help the organisation meet its objectives and work effectively in the policy environment. Debbie studied Arts Policy and Management at City University, London and has worked in cultural management roles in public art, arts marketing and performing arts in the UK. She is responsible for financial planning and core funding. Debbie oversees development in the areas of EDI, Fair Work and Environmental Sustainability. Tuesday - Thursday
James Murphy: Commercial Director James joined the board of GPS in 2012, bringing experience of commercial strategy and management from consultancy in the charitable sector. He took up the post of Gallery Manager in 2013 and Commercial Director in 2023. He is principally responsible for raising income through the promotion and sale of artists’ works, management of the public galleries and GPS’ presence at national and international art fairs. Monday – Friday
Since 2007, Sarah has been responsible for programming and developing the in-house and community learning activities, including an annual adult course programme, schools and further education learning strands. She contributes to organisation-wide strategies, business planning and funding streams. Sarah is committed to integrating the Archive into our Learning programme by managing community-based projects that encourage artists, young people, and communities to engage with fine art printmaking. She has led on a number of projects including Make Your Mark, Graphic Impact, and most recently, the Here and Now Legacy Print project as part of GPS’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Sarah has a B(Des) 1st Class Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Postgraduate Teaching Qualification for Further Education from University of Dundee. Monday - Thursday

Marion MacPhee: Gallery Assistant Marion graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2001 with a BA in illustration and began working as an artist from her studio on Skye. In 2009, she moved to Glasgow and joined Glasgow Print Studio as an artist member. She soon joined the staff as part of the gallery team, assisting with sales, exhibitions, and art fairs. Marion continues this work today alongside her own artistic practice, in which she uses etching and monotype to capture the majesty of humpback whales and the coastal landscapes of the north west of Scotland. sales@glasgowprintstudio.co.uk
Richard Marsden: Gallery Assistant Richard studied on the BA in Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Beckett University before moving to Glasgow to complete his MLitt in Fine Art Practice (Printmaking) at Glasgow School of Art. Soon after completing his Masters, he became a member of Glasgow Print Studio to continue to develop his professional practice. Since June 2021, he has worked at GPS as a Gallery Assistant. Rebecca Fielding: Gallery Assistant Rebecca has worked as a Gallery Assistant at GPS since June 2021, working part-time in the gallery. Her background is in Art History, particularly the history of art collections and their associations with uncomfortable imperial histories. She enjoys working in such a lively and productive environment, that is immersed in the making of art and contributes so much to the cultural legacy of Glasgow. sales@glasgowprintstudio.co.uk
Chic Sinet: Framemaker Chic joined Glasgow Print Studio in 1989, having worked previously at Ingram Fine Arts. He runs the framing workshop at Glasgow Print Studio, crafting made-to-measure frames for our exhibition programme as well as for customer orders. Monday – Friday Workshop Kerry Douglas: Workshop Coordinator Kerry began her role as Workshop Assistant at GPS in 2020. She is a classically trained bookbinder and paper aficionado, and when not at GPS she specialises in traditional and contemporary hand-sewn books in her East End studio. A champion of knowledge and skill sharing, Kerry teaches bookbinding workshops for all ages across Central Scotland. Wednesday – Saturday
Sally Mairs: Workshop Assistant
[she/her] Sally has been Saturday Workshop Assistant at GPS since September 2022. She studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting followed by MDes Communication Design. Sally is also a freelance illustrator and designer, as well as a print technician at Edinburgh Printmakers, and her primary modes of printmaking are digital, relief, and screenprinting. When not working, she can usually be found at Glasgow Zine Library, drinking tea, and chatting about book arts. Saturdays
Jonathan Staines: Workshop Assistant
[he/him] Jonathan began working at GPS in September 2022 as Saturday Workshop Assistant. He graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin with an International Bachelors in Fine Art Printmaking. Saturdays Studio Printmakers
Stuart Duffin: Etching Stuart joined GPS as a member in 1982 after graduating in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. After initially working as a class tutor and studio printer, he became a permanent member of staff in 1984 as Etching and Screenprint Technician. From there, he went on to become Studio Workshop Manager, Senior Etcher, and ultimately Master Etcher. He is an elected Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy and is internationally acknowledged as an accomplished mezzotint printmaker and etcher, having exhibited regionally, nationally, and worldwide. Works by Stuart Duffin are in many public and private collections including the Scottish Arts Council, Kharkiv Museum, The Jerusalem Foundation, BBC, Glasgow City Council, Strathclyde and Glasgow Universities.  Ian McNicol: Etching Ian initially studied architecture at Glasgow School of Art before transferring to Technical Graphics & Illustration at Glasgow College of Building and Printing. He went on to spend 10 years in professional practice with an architecture firm while taking evening classes at Glasgow Print Studio. He experimented with screenprinting, lithography and relief techniques, eventually being seduced by the etching process. In 1993, Ian became a member at GPS to pursue a fine art career, gaining valuable experience and training under Master-Printer, Stuart Duffin. He now works at Glasgow Print Studio as a collaborating Master Etcher, Etching Tutor and Editioning Technician. He exhibits widely across the UK and has work in collections with Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Cleveland Art Museum, Ohio; The Collins Gallery, Strathclyde University; The British Council, Edinburgh; and Grasshopper Hotel, Glasgow. Wednesday - Thursday
Murray Robertson: Digital  Murray studied at Glasgow School of Art and maintains an interest in traditional fine art and printmaking through many years of association with GPS. The research and application of new technologies, specifically digital imaging and printing influences current professional practice in the role of Master Printer at GPS managing the Digital Imaging Suite and disseminating that knowledge to others, or as an individual practicing artist. Robertson has exhibited widely over the past 35 years in the UK and internationally. Of particular influence have been residencies and exchange programmes including Künsterlhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Yamanaka Fine Arts Centre, Kyoto, Japan, JJ School of Art, Mumbai, India; Museo Grabado, Zacatecas, Mexico and most recently Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Sabhal Mór Ostaig, Isle of Skye and Ballinglen Arts Centre, County Mayo, Ireland. Rosalind Lawless: Screenprint Rosalind graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters of Fine Art. Her recent awards include a scholarship at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, RSA residencies, and the RSA William Littlejohn Award. Since 2005, she has been working as screenprinting tutor at Glasgow Print Studio and became workshop printer within screenprint in 2007. She also works within exhibition installation and end of publication roles.
