Resonance - Jacki Parry

Thursday 2nd February 2012, 6pm - 8pm
Trongate 103 First Thursday

Exhibition runs: 3rd February - 4th March 2012

Paper is central to the conceptual, physical and material activity which drives my work in the studio and workshop.

Former Head of Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art (1991- 2001) Jacki Parry’s work requires a form of reading without words. Born in Australia, Jacki has lived in the UK since 1965. Parry’s work responds to changes in landscape and the elements and to information, its containment and manipulation.

Resonance marks the opening of Glasgow Print Studio’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Sebastien Marciak

Thursday 2nd February 2012, 6pm - 8pm
Trongate 103 First Thursday

Exhibition runs: 3rd - 26th February 2012

My work is based on emotional and sensory experience. Often developed on a large to very large scale, it aims to confront the spectators with a series of pieces that play on physical or emotional impact. Whether I refer to Anthropomorphic Test Devices (known as crash test dummies) or some anatomical wax model, I want to establish a dialogue between body and object (art and science) which serves as a pretext to emphasize the individual aspect of the human body and to show its fragile condition.

Taking inspiration from strong, thought-provoking images, I want to create a dark but silent, contemplative and poetic universe.
