How would I approach Glasgow Print Studio about exhibiting my work?
The Glasgow Print Studio Exhibitions Programme for 2008 is already confirmed.
If you wish your work to be considered for exhibition in 2009 you should send an application by post marked for the attention of The Exhibitions Committee to Glasgow Print Studio, 48 King Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G1 5QT. Applications should include an up to date Curriculum Vitae, an Artists Statement, an Exhibition Proposal and approximately 6 slides of your work. If you wish your slides to be returned please also enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope.
Please note that the main focus of Glasgow Print Studios Exhibitions Programme is on Contemporary Original Printmaking (Exhibitions in Gallery III at 25 King Street are of Glasgow Print Studio member's work only.)
Does Glasgow Print Studio organise artist exchanges?
Yes. Glasgow Print Studio has a fairly active Artists Exchange Programme.
Exchanges can be organised with similar organisations anywhere in the world. At this end, we are often able to gain financial support from Glasgow City Council to support artists use of our workshop, accommodation expenses and a small per diem allowance (for food etc.); whilst the British Council will often cover travelling expenses. This, however, is usually dependent on such financial support being matched at the other end. We have around 200 workshop artist members who would normally be invited to submit a proposal for consideration on the exchange, a selection being made usually either by ourselves or by our exchange partners, depending on the nature of the exchange.
Organisations interested in setting up an Artists Exchange with Glasgow Print Studio should direct initial enquiries by post to 48 King Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G1 5QT or e-mail at gallery@gpsart.co.uk. Please provide information on your organisation (ie. size and location of organisation, workshop facilities, number of artists using workshop facilities) and detail any suggestions you may have for an exchange.
Does Glasgow Print Studio have a scheme to allow artists visiting Glasgow to use the workshop facilities?
Yes. Glasgow Print Studio Visiting Artists Programme welcomes experienced printmakers from around the world who wish to visit Scotland and work for a period of time in our Print Workshop.
Fees are not only low but are flexible, depending on how long visiting artists wish to use our facilities. For example, those who visit for only a few days or weeks do not need to become a workshop member and can instead opt to pay out of town users daily session fees; whilst those who visit for longer periods can pay membership fees and the cheaper block session fees which cover use of the workshop quarterly, six monthly or yearly. Please see the next FAQ for exact details of fees.
Whilst we cannot offer accommodation for artists visiting on this basis, we may be able to help visiting artists locate accommodation by putting them in touch with local accommodation agencies or, for students, University Accommodation Offices. Also, although we cannot offer any financial support for visiting artists, we are happy to lend our support in writing to any applications for funding which visiting artists may make to funding bodies in their own country.
Artists interested in visiting Glasgow Print Studio to use our workshop should direct initial enquiries by post to 48 King Street, Glasgow, Scotland, G1 5QT or by e-mail at gallery@gpsart.co.uk, providing information on the planned time and duration of your visit.
